We are in Ravenna Ohio and started this pet food pantry after reading a article about another pet food pantry.After hearing some heartbreaking stories of people giving up pets due to finances,and looking at my dog trying to imagine having to make that decision,we decided we could do something to help.
We started in May of 2009 by buying a couple of bags ourselves,then approached friends and neighbors.We have been blessed each week to get enough donations to feed the amount of people in need for that week.Our last pick-up we were able to give over 300 pounds of donated food to people in need. We have helped families mainly in Portage and Summit County but have been able to reach some in Geauga.If they are willing to make the drive we are willing to help.We have been just as blessed by distributing the food as those receiving.
My name is Rene ,I am the founder/president of the pet pantry.I also am an ordained minister through United Faith Ministries and a member of Christian Life Center Church.God is doing wonderful things through this ministry and I am so honored to be part of it.
My husband's name is Tom.He is co-founder of the pet pantry.Without his help we would have never done all we have.
We have 2 dogs,5 cats,2 birds,and fish.

My name is Ilse and I am married and have 3 children. I have been an animal lover all my life. Our house is a bit of a zoo. We currently have 3 birds, a turtle, a cat and a dog. We have had as many as 6 cats, 5 turtles, and 4 hamsters in the past, and if it were up to our children we would have even more. I got to know Rene and Tom and have been so blessed to call them my friends. We got involved with the pet pantry about a year ago and have been involved in fundraising and initial screening contacts. It is a pleasure and a privilege to help pet owners ensure that they receive the food they need to care for their pets.
